After an 8 hour train ride we finally arrived at the train station in Milan, Italy. It was a mess trying to find the exit but after we stepped outside the station we were greeted with an epically beautiful Italian city. If you have seen The Jersey Shore (forgive me for referencing Jersey Shore, it won't happen again) season where the cast was in Italy, you already have an idea of what an Italian city looks like at night. Now take that and multiply it by 10. That's what it's like to see Milan at night for the first time. It's gorgeous.

[/caption] We were greeted by a bunch of speedy, hustling, old Italian taxi drivers hellbent on getting their next customer. After a candid 18 minute taxi drive through the city (which was mind-blowing by the way) we arrived at our hotel in the outskirts of Milan. Little did we know the Italian Holiday Inn we stayed at would be the bane of our existence. The hotel was 20 minutes driving distance from Milan making simple trips to the city almost impossible. If we wanted to get to Milan we had to take a shuttle to a Muni station, then take that Muni shuttle all the way to the center of the city. It didn't make the adventure any less rad, but I have to admit it was a kind of pain in the ass to get to Duomo. This led to some depressing days indoors with nothing to eat but the nearby Autogrill, which I'm convinced was created by satan. Let's just say I've been cool off of paninis for the past couple of months.
